End of Year Reflections

end of year reflections

Hi,

I will be taking a breather from Mental Edge Friday until the 6th January 2022, when I will resume as we prepare for the Australian Open.

At the end of the year, I like to have total downtime and reflect on what the year has been and what I want going forward. I will therefore not add to the noise that lands in our inboxes during this period.

I urge you to take time to reflect and get off the total stimulus of social media, phone apps, laptops, and iPads. Each of us is different so how long you go without is personal, but it is so liberating to spend even a few hours off without access.

This year I will be doing so daily from next week until the 26th December, after which I will be en-route to Australia and need to be accessible.

For my final MEF for 2021 I would like to offer you these four quotes to reflect upon. I really like them for different reasons:

"Whoever come are the right people
Wherever it happens is the right place
Whatever happens it the only things that could have
Whenever it starts is the right time
When it's over, it's over"
Harrison Owen - Open Space Technology

"One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing you are my life." Khalil Gibran

“Live for yourself and you will live in vain; Live for others, and you will live again.” Bob Marley

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” Anne Bradstreet, a 17th century English poet

Please send me any reflections of your own and ideas for future MEFs – let's begin 2022 with renewed vigour and enthusiasm to make good choices for ourselves.

In the meantime, why not give yourself a fantastic holiday gift that will keep on giving with our special Holiday offer for Mindset College.

Best wishes,

David Sammel

About Mindset College

Mindset College is a course to help you think healthily in a competitive world. The skills are transferable to any life, tackling change, anxiety comparison, labelling, judgement, expectations, introversion, rejection and so much more.

"I designed the course for busy people. Practical and easy to use on an App with short videos and worksheets. I defy anyone to go through Mindset College and not have a transformation in their thinking” David Sammel

Briefly who is David Sammel?

David Sammel has coached three Olympians, Barry Cowan (Sydney 2000) with Liam Broady and Marcus Daniell involved in Tokyo 2021 where Marcus made history with Mike Venus, winning bronze, New Zealand’s first ever tennis medal.

Apart from success in tennis on the ATP/WTA tours, he coaches private clients including international cricketers, a pro golfer who recently won her first European Tour title, several college athletes and is a consultant who has worked with the likes of Chelsea and Fulham Football Clubs. He has a best-selling book Locker Room Power, (recently released as an Audio Book) and is a graduate of the Berkeley Executive Coaches Institute (BECI) as well as earning a European Mentoring (EMCC) diploma. His work shows that whilst his coaching is based firmly in applied psychology, sound theory sits behind his knowledge.

Mindset College tackles the very real problem of delivering a top-class mental skills programme at an affordable price with answers to most issues you will face, using tried and tested tools from the coal-face of elite performance.

The positive impact that Mindset College has on people is the reason I created it.

Mindset College Testimonies

Here are a few comments about the course:

Hi Dave. Just a quick dose of gratitude for the weekend. Thank you for helping me become who I am today. You made a big impact on me, more than you know. Oli Bilson – NeXT level (Industry leader in digital entrepreneur marketing)

Dave spent many personal hours shaping the correct mindset for my success. I would say the impact that he has had on my life, not just my tennis, will never be forgotten" Nick Baglin, ex-player and successful businessman

I already feel my mental toughness growing and my ability to endure as well. I made final this week and lost a 3-hour match. I had a lot of fun competing and I came through a match I never would have before working with you. I’m going to work on a couple more mindset college modules. I can’t really believe how good this stuff is to be honest - Matt Summers (tennis player) - Univ. of Denver, Senior

My son, Liam, a 15-year-old high performance soccer player, recently completed the Mindset College course. Dave’s advice throughout the course has put him on a new path that is more purposeful and deliberate and has removed much of the pressure from his young shoulders that he was feeling before completing the course. David Mullins (Managing Director) - Intercollegiate Tennis Association | Former NCAA Division I Head Tennis Coach

“I thought I was mentally weak with special problems. MC changed my perceptions towards pain in a race and my results improved quickly. What I didn’t expect was a total change in my attitude to life. I’m happier, more relaxed and breaking records”  Ellie Leather (NCAA track and field)

I would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful results that we are seeing from the time you have spent with our daughter, Mystique. We now have a teenage daughter who is chatting non-stop, cheerful, walking around dancing, and singing. She is also loving school and her tennis has improved ten-fold! In the beginning we were simply hoping you would be able to help with her tennis and confidence in sport however, you have done so much more than that. Our hope is that Mystique’s positivity in everyday life will continue to flow through to her tennis game. Your expertise is greatly appreciated. Dr. Michael MaljanekB.App.Sci.- MCAA Chiropractor, Melbourne, Australia

Mindset College is a programme that gives you the tools to excel and provides a step-by-step guide on how to master the mental skills and craft a distinct mindset advantage.

Whilst there is over 25 hours of learning material, mindful of time, the longest video is 11mins, all others between 3 and 8 minutes so you can play a quick video from their phone app if they need a quick uplift or reminder.

For more information including my background story, see the About Us section.

The course is updated via webinars that are recorded with any new information that I gain from working on tour and with personal clients.

I’m out on tour using the tools that work in the heat of the battle - not just theory.
